Like me you probably loved Eclectica as soon as you set foot inside this grade 2 listed building- what a find!!  The vibrant splash of colours, the beautifully displayed and gorgeously unique clothes, jewellery, lifestyle products and accessories, Vicki and Jodie’s consummate, helpful, yet never intrusive advice – it is no wonder that one happy customer is quoted as saying “it must be impossible to feel unhappy in your lovely shop.”

As Eclectica’s clothing brands are sourced from all over the world one of the things I love the most is that you know that you are getting something different and special.  Whilst Eclectica’s clothing makes you stand out in the crowd – in a good way (!) – the pieces are also classic and timeless due to their quality and chic finish. They are extremely versatile, can be worn in multiple ways and can easily be styled up or down.  The pieces I have invested in have definitely become staple pieces in my wardrobe almost becoming a capsule wardrobe in themselves.   There is also the fact that, by not backing throwaway fashion, you are forming a more sustainable and ethical footprint. All good, right?

Here I do a quick whizz stop tour of Eclectica through the seasons, some of my favourite buys and how I’ve styled them. Hold on to your seats…

Heart Navy Cowl Neck Knit Dress

This is probably one of my favourite Eclectica buys from a previous season. I wore this on a special date night with my husband when you are not sure what to wear and want to look as if you have made a bit of an effort but not too much.  It was warm – great as we’re talking about wearing it in the dead of winter-  comfortable and stylish and I have some lovely memories of wearing it. Although this quality piece could easily be worn in the day, I elevated it to eveningwear by raiding my jewellery box.

Desigual Christian Lacroix Yellow Floral Dress

I love this dress .  Its pattern looks slightly vintage to me and all the colours including that vibrant yellow can’t help but make you smile.  It’s a real sunshine dress. I throw on a little black cardigan and my yellow bumble bee jasper ring also from Eclectica and I am good to go! Could be worn casually or for that special do.

Purple Heart Jumper

This jumper is very warm and like a huge, snuggly hug on a cold winter’s day.  I wore it on a plane on an overseas trip and despite the arctic air con I was toasty.  It’s a sumptuous colour with big bell sleeves and I like to wear it with a fitted pencil skirt as it is so loose and flowing.

This skirt from the Australian Orientique brand is a two in one as it is reversible.  The lovely mixture of colours mean you can choose an array of coloured tops to go with it and then bling it up with some colourful jewellery. It’s been a great summer piece with t-shirt and pumps transitioning to winter with some thick tights.

Desigual Patterned Top

This Desigual top from a previous season is crazy but somehow works.  The hot colours are lovely together and I wear it with cropped navy trousers and some fabulous gold and peach stone earrings also from Eclectica’s Acus brand.  They have more stunning Acus earrings in stock at the moment.

Desigual Bird Top

I love this top . It’s like a painting and the colours are terrific.  I tend to wear it with a black pencil skirt if I want to tone it down slightly but if I want to celebrate colour I wear it with a turquoise skirt that goes with the turquoise in the top.

Desigual Wrap Top

This top from a previous season screams chic to me – I love it! I wear it with a brown cami underneath to protect modesty and with a black pencil skirt although it would look fab with jeans or brown or black trousers.  I then bling it up slightly with a statement ring.  As the top has pretty sequins on it there’s not much need for too much bling.

Trio of Boom Shanker Skirts

Boom Shanker do wonderful skirts. The first of these has has a wonderful floral pattern. I wear this with a matching cobalt tee and a statement ring for a summery, feminine feel.

The second has beautiful detailed embroidery that is so stunning. With a little plain black top this is an ultimate statement skirt and could be dressed down or hold its own at a fancy do. I wear some blue jewellery with it, the colour of the roses, just to give it that pop of colour.  This skirt is still available with 40% off it in a size 8. Go on…!!!

The last of these skirts is a gorgeous textured fabric and cobalt colour.  I embrace colour with this one and wear it with a turquoise jumper and lots of turquoise bling.  This skirt is still available with 40% off it in a size 8 and 10.  Go on…!!!

So finishes my tour of Eclectica in ten outfits. I really look forward to seeing what Vicki and Jodie stock in future and will continue enjoying shopping locally at this very special and unique independent shop.
